The purpose of these meetings is to share information about the Countywide Drainage Study, including how flood risk is being assessed, how drainage concerns are being identified, and how the County will use study findings to prioritize drainage improvements in the years ahead. The meeting is a chance for public feedback related to drainage and flooding issues throughout the County.

The meetings will be held in an open-house format with brief presentations from the study team at the top of each hour. Attendees are welcome to come and go at any time during the posted meeting hours to view exhibits, learn about the study, and speak directly with project team members. Meeting materials will be available in English and Spanish.

About the Study

This drainage planning effort is supported in part by the Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered in Texas by the Texas General Land Office (GLO). CDBG-MIT funds help communities reduce long-term risks to life and property from flooding and other natural hazards by supporting planning, modeling, and mitigation strategy development.

The Aransas County Drainage Study will help the County identify drainage system needs, evaluate potential flood mitigation strategies, and prepare for future grant opportunities to advance recommended improvements into design and construction. Importantly, CDBG-MIT funding supports planning and analysis only; it does not include construction funding.

Additional opportunities for public input will occur as technical work advances and draft recommendations are developed. Community participation is encouraged throughout the study.
