Licensed Contractors

Many building trades (e.g. air conditioning technicians, electricians, plumbers) are required by the State of Texas and the City of Rockport to have a license issued by the State. A current license means a contractor has met state licensing requirements, including a criminal background check. The City of Rockport does not regulate or license contractors and cannot make recommendations on contractors to use.

However, there are two searchable databases available to locate contact information for licensed contractors or to ensure tradesmen and their companies are properly licensed before they begin work.

If you are looking for a plumber, the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners maintains a list of all licensed plumbers throughout the state. In addition, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has a searchable database of licenses for 26 other occupations and industries, including air conditioning technicians and electricians.

If you have a complaint about a contractor’s work, including contractors working without a license, complaints may be submitted online with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation or with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Complaints about contractors doing work without a license or City of Rockport permit can be submitted via the City’s Fix It system or by calling (361) 790-1125.
